KwaZulu-Natal-born Mangosuthu Buthelezi was a former member of the ANC in its early days, later leaving to form the IFP. In 1994 he became the first post-apartheid Minister of Home Affairs. Along with his political career, Buthelezi is also the Prime Minister of the Zulu nation and Chairperson of the KwaZulu-Natal House of Traditional Leaders. (Werner Beukes, Sapa)
